I’m fit when I go for a cycle which I have been doing for many years its very nice I love it and always have I find it very nice when all the cold air brushing past my face its very relaxing and not only is it a form of exercise but it’s also a form of transportation it’s so useful and that’s why it’s so important to have a bike like if you can’t afford a car cycling is better than walking it is so useful for these reasons and is actually very affordable the only thing is it can be very exhausting going uphill so try to bring a drink it is also important to bring a snack but only for long distances I love cycling and that’s why I love it its useful and also keeps you fit

Interview of James Carr captain of Tcs Senior Rugby team who have reached the semi-final of the Leinster Development shield.
How do you think as the captain the team will perform in the semi-finals? James: I would say we would do well as it is a good bunch of lads ready to work, they don’t always know what they’re doing but they will always give it everything. How does it feel to be in the semi-finals of the Leinster development shield? James: It is a great feeling knowing that it is the furthest ant Tallaght C.S team has made. Where do you think the team is strongest? James: I believe the team is strongest in the backs (numbers 9-15) as they’re an agile bunch of lads with a great set of skill. Was it much of a challenge to make it to the semi-finals? James: It was hard yeah, but the team have done well to get this far, considering the injuries we’ve had and the loss at the start of the competition, but we recovered and beat Drimnagh Castle. When I was six years old I began playing football, at Kilnamanagh F.C. I played with the academy until I was eight years old. Then I played with the boys up till I was ten years old and playing with the boys was very intense, but very enjoyable. Now I played with Peamount united U14s premier and it was one of the best decisions of my life. I really enjoy playing with Peamount because of the girls and the mangers. A good amount of us play for the MGL. The MGL is the Metrapoliton Girls Leagues and it selects a certain amount of girls from different clubs. Last year on the MGL we went to Barcelona and it was a great experience. We played two Spanish teams and had one master class with Spanish coaches, it was very hard with was great fun. Last October at Peamount we went to England was played matches against two English clubs and we went to a Man City ladies match and went to a Liverpool match it was one of the best experiences of my life. Football is a great way to stay active and fit. It is a very active sport and I would highly recommend it to all ages.
I like to try to keep active on these cold and dark winter nights by getting out in the evening for a walk, jog or run with my two dogs. It’s always very easy to want to stay in at home, especially during the cold and wet nights, but once I get out for even a short time I always feel much better for it and have a far better night’s sleep. Starting is always the hardness part. I don’t know anyone who ever regrets any type of activity after they have done it.
For the New Year I am trying to improve my cardio fitness by building up to a 10K run. I find starting off gently by combining walking, jogging and running is the best way to begin. Apps like Couchto5K and Mapmyrun are really helpful in tracking my time and pace. It’s great to see small improvement in time of a short number of weeks. A small bit of activity can make a huge difference over time both physically and mentally! We joined a dance team in Tallaght this year. There is a hall in the building that Katie, Faith and I go dancing in. They do classes on a Monday, Wednesday and Sunday. The classes last for 1-3hrs on Mondays and Wednesdays and last 2-5hrs on a Sunday. We do all types of dancing but mainly do hip-hop. We have only attended Lisa’s classes. There are different classes for different age groups. Our group is ages 12-16. We are starting to practice for a competition in 2 months. We have a singing class for 30 mins only for people who would like to do it. We have watched many dance groups compete and they are very good. We hope when we compete that we will win first place.
I began playing football last year, I started playing for Kilnamagh FC.
My friend Shauna was starting too so I decided to go along with her. We went to our first training session and both really liked the sport so we continued playing football. I really enjoyed playing matches and training with my friends. I play for girls under 13’s. My favourite team is Manchester United, I like watching them play matches and I also went to Old Trafford to see them play against Swansea. It was the most exciting trip and one of the best experiences of my life. I really enjoy playing football because it is a competitive but really fun sport, I also enjoy playing because I get to train hard and be with the girls on my team. I would recommend football to all girls and boys of all ages. Football is a great sport to stay active, fit and healthy. Football is a hard working sport. When I first came into TCS the only sport I wanted to do was football. We done two trails and there was 36 people. Only 18 people were picked and I was one of them. Are first match was against Clonkeen College we won 2-1. We are unbeaten we drew two match and won the rest. We are in the quarter finals.
Today I have started a diet/eating healthy because I train 2/3 days a week and I want to be healthy for when we’re out on the pitch training or even playing matches. Yesterday I ate a salad it was made freshly in a shop called Chopped. In chopped you can choose the type of lettuce you would like in your salad along with four toppings and a meat of your choice. All of this is combined and laid out on a chopping board. The contents of the salad are chopped using a curved blade Mezzaluna chopping knife. I got Iceberg lettuce, broccoli, egg, cheese and Mediterranean chicken. The RDA recommended daily allowance for teenage girls is 1,800-2,200 calories per day.
I would usually go for a walk or a little jog. Then when I am done doing that I would come home and have a hot shower, then eat a healthy snack just before I go to bed. My goal for eating healthy and training is to lose some weight and be fit for when I am out on the football pitch. |
